SILVERDALE & DISTRICTS HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC.

The Silverdale & Districts Historical Society was formed as the Wainui Historical Society in1968 with the idea of  starting a Pioneer Village to preserve some examples of the domestic architecture of the area.  The name Wainui was chosen because at that time Silverdale was in the Wainui Riding of Waitemata County.    Silverdale is now in Rodney District and  the name “Wainui Riding” has disappeared.   The name of the Society was changed to avoid confusion with Wainui village.

Besides operating the Pioneer Village the Society runs monthly coach trips to places of interest and Midwinter and Christmas lunches for members and organises two winter lectures open to the public.

Chapel and gardens may be hired for weddings, baby naming and funerals etc.
